Women’s Health Loddon Mallee, Mildura Rural City Council and Thorne Harbour Country warmly welcome you to join us for a free community screening of the Equal the Contest documentary in Ouyen.

About the documentary:

When a 42 year old filmmaker joins a new local women’s footy club in Regional Victoria a simple desire to play becomes a complex journey of inclusion and belonging. An unexpected turn means the team has to fight to play. Their campaign challenges age old sporting traditions and joins the wider movement for gender equity.

Who is this screening for?

This is a free community screening. We warmly welcome the Ouyen and surrounding community to join us as well as players, parents, managers and decision makers at all clubs of all genders and all sports to attend. Bring the whole team!

Creating safe and welcoming spaces for people from diverse backgrounds in community sport requires commitment to changing club culture. Watching Equal the Contest can support players, clubs and communities to understand some of the barriers that prevent equal access in sport.  A short presentation following the screening will provide tools and tips for all clubs to consider that will promote fair access for everyone.

When the rules exclude you, rewrite them.
