Women’s Health Loddon Mallee (WHLM) is proud to launch Raise Them Equal – an innovative project containing a 5-part animation series, a set of educational resources, and various learning opportunities to promote discussion and support early learning services, families, and communities in the Loddon Mallee region to take actions to challenge outdated ideas about gender and raise kids free from gender stereotypes.
Why are we focused on early learning?
Early childhood (0-5 years) has been identified as one of the critical life stages and transition points to address the gendered drivers of violence and prevent gender-based violence. By challenging gender stereotypes and promoting gender equality from an early age, we help children understand that abilities and interests are not confined by gender. This not only empowers them to explore a wider range of activities and develop a stronger sense of self but also lays the foundation for reducing future instances of gender-based discrimination and violence and contributes to a more inclusive and just society.
In-Language Resources
The Raise Them Equal resources have been developed for Filipino, Karen and English-speaking communities and are currently available in Tagalog, Karen and simple English languages. We encourage you to promote and use these resources widely with families and your community. Gender-based violence is prevalent in all communities, but it is preventable.
Raise Them Equal Workshops
WHLM is also offering Raise Them Equal workshops to equip early years professionals with the confidence and skills needed to effectively use the project resources, and to strengthen understanding of the value of promoting gender equality in the early years.
