The Raise Them Equal Project:
Raise them Equal: Supporting families to Raise Happy Kids’ is a two-year project that aims to prevent family violence in multicultural and faith communities.
Through promotion of gender equality using a Gender in the Early Year’s lens and whole of community approach, this project will work with Filipino, Karen and South Sudanese communities and will celebrate culture and challenge harmful stereotypes.
About the Opportunity:
- This is a paid casual position of approximately 40 hours until August 2023.
- This position is Bendigo based.
- Some after hours and weekend work may be required.
Responsibilities:
- Provide bilingual support to Karen and/or South Sudanese communities.
- Engage with migrant and refugee young families in project activities.
- Participate in capacity building training program.
- Introduction to Gender Equality
- Gender Equality in the early years and the prevention of family violence
- Responding to disclosures
- Facilitation training and managing resistance and backlash.
- Support the delivery of 2 Gender Equity in the Early Years training to target communities.
- Provide bilingual and bicultural support to other program staff.
- Participate in regular reflection and debriefing.
- Participate in and contribute to project meetings and activities.
- Work collaboratively.
- Undertake other duties as required.
We are looking for someone with:
Essential
- Ability to speak one of the target community languages (Karen, Dinka) fluently
- Good spoken and written English
- Willingness to build knowledge and understanding of Gender Equity and Family Violence prevention principles
Preferred
- Skills in training delivery and/or group facilitation
- Experience in community work (either paid or voluntary)
- Understanding and experience in working with migrant and refugee communities
- Training in MARAM (Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework)

Digital Communications Officer (0.6 FTE)
About the Opportunity:
Women’s Health Loddon Mallee is a women’s health promotion organisation based in Bendigo and working across the Loddon Mallee Region of Victoria. Women’s Health Loddon Mallee’s vision is equity in health and wellbeing for women of the Loddon Mallee region. Our priorities are to advance gender equality, prevent violence against women, strengthen women’s mental health and wellbeing, and improve sexual and reproductive health in a changing society.
We are a for purpose health promotion charity run by women for women. Working within a feminist framework WHLM addresses the cultural and structural causes of gender inequalities impacting the health and wellbeing of women in the region, through research, advocacy for systemic change, training, and capacity building.
The Digital Communications Officer Will:
Work directly with the Communications Lead and Health Promotion team to:
- Develop and enhance organisational visual design, e.g. creating and supporting team with presentations, banners, social tiles
- Creating (filming, editing and uploading) video content
- Social media content planning and delivery
- Reporting on social media reach and engagement
- Develop/support development of content for EDMs and electronic newsletters
- Create and share content across digital platforms that is engaging, evidence based, appropriate,
innovative, safe and inclusive - Amplify organisational messaging, including but not limited to WHLM’s 5 Health Promotion portfolio areas that will: engage and expand our supporters; amplify our voice and profile; and build an increased awareness and understanding of the impacts of gender inequality in our region
- Build and support digital activities and resource development within the HP team to enhance WHLM’s communications capacity, presence, and effectiveness
- Support health promotion activities with communications focus as required
- Understand health promotion principles and community development practices, that successfully contribute to the objectives outlined in WHLM’s Integrated Health Promotion Plan and Strategic Plan
- Undertake other duties as part of the integrated Health Promotion team as required

We are looking for someone with:
- Commitment to WHLM’s vision, purpose, and values, including an understanding of, and commitment to, intersectional feminism, gender equity and women’s health, safety, and wellbeing.
- Experience in marketing, communications and/or campaigning
- Demonstrated strong writing skills, including exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic and effective digital content to achieve outcomes
- Demonstrated experience using digital platforms, including use of email, websites (Word Press, Canva, Adobe), social media, content management systems, scheduling software and digital analytical tools for monitoring and reporting
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders
- Proven ability to manage your time effectively and organise your work to tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
Desirable
- Tertiary qualifications in marketing, public relations, communications, or other relevant discipline
- Graphic design, image and video production and editing skills

- Tertiary qualifications in health promotion, population health, health, education, social work, gender equality or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, implementation, and evaluation, within the not-for-profit sector, education, or local government.
- Excellent relationship skills including the ability to develop, co-design, maintain and lead strong collaborative partnerships with community groups, health and community service organisations, local councils, sporting clubs, funding bodies and key government agencies.
